The Kingfisher's Chorus

Joyful Acapella Singing for All

Do you like to sing?
Have you always loved it?

Have you never tried it?

Do you need singing in your life?...

....Yes! Singing connects us, with ourselves and each other. It restores vitality and deepens breath; it moves us and gives voice to those aspects of our experience we need to express and may not have words or actions for.

About our choir

Our mission is to enable people to connect with their own voices and to experience the joy and healing benefits of using them expressively and through song. The Kingfisher's Chorus began with a few eager friends of Redbrook Community who wanted a space to sing. We learn and sing everything acapella so you don't have to be able to read music. We sing songs from different places and different styles, and we perform at public events, sometimes with the Kangaroo Choir. We ALWAYS have a great time and leave feeling uplifted. We sound pretty good too!

News!

After a long summer holiday we have lots of singing to catch up on!

Upcoming gigs...

Sunday 24th September: Monmouth Action for Climate Emergency Festival

Performances by lots of choirs and groups, and an action packed day schedule! We're on at 12.30pm. We will meet at St Thomas the Martyr at the bottom of town (by the old bridge) at 11.15am for a rehearsal. If you can't make the rehearsal but are singing, please arrive by 12.15 at the Shire Hall.

New workshop: Reconnect in Sound: an Outdoor Experience! I will be piloting a new kind of workshop, in part for the Wye Valley River Festival, to include mindful singing and movement in the outdoors as a way of more deeply connecting with and finding new tools to nourish ourselves. Stay tuned for dates!

Recordings... these will be available on Soundcloud and the link emailed to members. They are also uploaded to a shared drive. Click here to request access to the files.

Events

Each term there are opportunities to be part of gigs - we sing outdoors or indoors at different public events. Gigs are optional, usually relaxed and informal and always fun! We have recently hired a recording studio to record some of our favourite songs and hope to make this a regular event!
